“Don’t Abandon Baba!” Kaluma Warns Babu Owino Over ODM Exit Rumors
Political tension is rising in Nairobi. Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has issued a sharp warning to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino. Kaluma cautioned him against leaving the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy or the Citizens’ Party (DCP).
Speaking Thursday morning, Kaluma didn’t mince words.
“Babu Owino, leaving Baba for Gachagua and his hateful group will be your shortest political walk to oblivion,” he said. “Retrace your steps back to Raila Odinga and ODM.”
Babu Owino Feels Betrayed by ODM Leadership
Kaluma’s remarks followed Babu Owino’s emotional interview on Kameme FM. The youthful MP expressed frustration over being sidelined by ODM, despite years of loyalty.

“I cannot be given an ODM party ticket,” Owino said. “You saw at Bomas how Governor Sakaja was endorsed by the ODM party and by Raila Odinga himself.”
Although disappointed, Owino remained respectful toward Raila Odinga.
“I cannot be given the ODM party ticket, but what I can do is respect Raila as my father,” he added. “The party ticket will be given to Sakaja, but my party ticket is in the hands of God.”
Kaluma Warns of Political Fallout
“Gachagua’s camp is toxic,” Kaluma warned. “Joining them will weaken your influence, especially in Nairobi County.”
Owino Blames Ruto for Sakaja’s Survival
During the same interview, Owino criticized President William Ruto. He accused him of interfering with Sakaja’s impeachment process.
“Sakaja’s leadership is a betrayal of Nairobi residents,” Owino said. “Giving him more time will only worsen the situation.”
Owino’s comments reflect growing discontent within ODM ranks. Many young leaders feel ignored, despite their grassroots support.

What’s Next for Babu?
As speculation grows, Owino faces a tough decision. Will he stay loyal to ODM or seek a new political home? Kaluma’s warning adds pressure, but Owino insists his destiny lies in divine hands.
“My party ticket is in the hands of God,” he repeated.
The battle for Nairobi’s future is heating up—and Babu Owino stands at a political crossroads.
