Amisi Warns Ruto: DR Congo Crisis Could Jeopardize Raila’s AUC Ambitions
Nairobi – Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has raised concerns over Kenya’s handling of the ongoing DR Congo crisis. He warned President William Ruto that poor diplomatic moves could impact ODM leader Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission (AUC) bid.

Amisi Urges Caution in Kenya’s Approach
Amisi cautioned Ruto to tread carefully, emphasizing the geopolitical stakes. He stressed that missteps could alter the voting decisions of countries that have already backed Raila.
“Dear Ruto, one vote is crucial in this #AUC election. Please don’t tinker with Congo by committing geopolitical blunders in this #DRCongo crisis. You mess up with Congo relations with Kenya, and you mess up Burundi, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, and possibly Rwanda vote,” Amisi warned.
Ruto Calls for Immediate Action
President Ruto urged an immediate cessation of hostilities in Eastern DR Congo. He expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis, particularly its impact on women and children.

Rising Anti-Kenya Sentiments in DRC
Meanwhile, anti-Kenyan protests erupted in Kinshasa. Demonstrators looted and torched the Kenyan Embassy and attacked diplomatic missions of Uganda and South Africa. Some attempted to storm the French Embassy, while the Rwandan Embassy suffered severe damage from fire.
Kenya Condemns Attacks on Embassy
Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei condemned the attacks. He urged DR Congo’s authorities to take swift action to restore order and protect diplomatic premises.
