Caleb Amisi Downplays Ruto’s Highly Publicised Tour of Western: “Walking With Political Rejects”

Caleb Amisi Dismisses Ruto’s Tour of Western Kenya as a Political Show with “Rejects”

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has sharply criticized President William Ruto’s ongoing tour of Western Kenya. The ODM lawmaker accused the president of failing to launch meaningful development projects in the region.

Amisi Calls Out Lack of Development

Speaking on Thursday, January 23, Amisi claimed Ruto’s five-day tour had achieved little. He mocked the highly publicized visit, highlighting a stopover at Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli’s home in Khwisero.

“I have keenly followed President Ruto’s tour of Western. The only new development I have seen in his five-day road trip is a visit and launch of Mzee Atwoli’s home,” Amisi said.

He added that Western Kenya continues to suffer historical injustices, which he blamed on divisive politics led by older leaders.

Booing, Jeering Signal Discontent

Amisi described the reception during some of Ruto’s stopovers as a clear indicator of discontent among the people.

Ruto has been walking with political rejects and dinosaurs. His Western tours are booed and jeered. The young blood is coming to shape the Western region to your surprise. They will not believe it! Kenya needs a renaissance,” he declared.

Challenge to Allocate Resources Fairly

The MP urged the president to prioritize fair resource allocation to ensure Western Kenya receives its share of the national development budget. According to Amisi, this would strengthen Ruto’s chances of re-election in 2027.

“Please divide the billions allocated to roads irregularly elsewhere and put a smile on the face of Western development. Whoever practices fair distribution of the national cake will never struggle to convince other tribes to re-elect him,” he stated.

Using his Saboti constituency as an example, Amisi highlighted that he has united over 42 tribes through equitable development initiatives.

Hope for Youthful Leadership

Amisi expressed optimism that youthful leaders would soon transform Western Kenya politics. He pointed out that the younger generation is eager to end the cycle of historical injustices.

“Dear Ruto, Western, we have suffered from historical injustices because of convoluted politics from our elder brothers,” he concluded.

As the president’s tour continues, the debate over resource allocation and inclusivity is expected to intensify, with leaders like Amisi determined to hold the government accountable.
