Umulkher Harun Exposes Male MP Who Recorded Her Dramatic Fight With EALA Lawmaker
Nairobi, Kenya – In a shocking twist to a viral brawl in Parliament, ODM-nominated MP Umulkher Harun has come forward to accuse Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi of secretly recording her physical altercation with EALA legislator Falhada Iman Dekow. The drama, now gripping national attention, has raised deep questions about betrayal, privacy, and power play in Parliament.
“I Saw Him Record Me”
On Wednesday, April 9, Harun stood before her fellow lawmakers with emotion and courage. She offered an apology for the confrontation but didn’t hold back her disappointment.
“I am short-sighted,” she began. “So, when I was in the middle of the scaffold, I noticed Mpuru Aburi was recording the video. Immediately after the incident, I approached him and asked him not to release the video.”
Despite her plea, the clip made its way to the public, sparking outrage and shame. Harun questioned Aburi’s intentions with clear pain in her voice.
“I wonder what his intention was,” she said. “I wonder if this was a targeted attack and if he was part of the incident. But I saw him record.”
A Parliament Betrayal?
Harun’s revelation sent shockwaves through the House. Many MPs criticized Aburi, labeling his actions as a serious breach of trust. The video, which has circulated widely online, has not only embarrassed the individuals involved but also tainted the image of Parliament itself.

“The recording of the video of the altercation is claimed to have been done by a sitting member of the house,” said Wetang’ula. “Should the claims be ascertained, it should attract sanctions under the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act Cap 6.”
Fallout for Falhada Iman Dekow
While the focus shifted to Aburi, the Speaker also addressed the consequences of the fight. He suspended Falhada Iman Dekow from accessing Parliament for 90 days.
Wetang’ula strongly condemned the incident. “That clip painted Parliament in a bad light,” he said. “Such behavior must never find space in this institution.”
Falhada will only be allowed back after submitting a formal written apology.
A House Divided
The incident has not only exposed hidden tensions but has also revealed the vulnerability of women in leadership. Harun’s courage in naming her colleague is a call for accountability—inside and outside Parliament.
