Uganda Court Orders Police to Produce Missing Kenyans Dead or Alive Within Seven Days
Tension is rising across East Africa after a Ugandan court issued a dramatic order demanding the government produce two missing Kenyan activists—dead or alive—within seven days. The ruling has sparked outrage, fear, and renewed calls for justice.
“Justice Must Be Seen and Felt”
On Monday, October 13, Justice Peter Kinobe of the High Court Civil Division in Kampala made the bold declaration during a habeas corpus hearing.
“Justice Peter Kinobe ordered the government to produce Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo dead or alive within seven days,” Freedom Hive Uganda confirmed.
“The Honourable Judge expressed his commitment to upholding the constitutional rights of the two activists, who have been held in unlawful military detention for 14 days.”
The two Kenyans vanished on October 1 in Kaliro District, Eastern Uganda. Advocates believe they are being held at a military facility in Mbuya, Kampala.

“They Have Not Seen a Courtroom”
Legal representatives argued that Njagi and Oyoo had been denied their right to appear before a judge within 48 hours of arrest.
“Ugandan law requires suspects to be presented in court within 48 hours. These men have not seen a courtroom,” one advocate stated.
The court’s ruling came just days after two Ugandan lawyers filed a petition demanding their release.
“We Don’t Have Them in Custody”
“On the matter of the two Kenyan activists who disappeared in Uganda, I am not briefed by the police that we have them in our custody,” said UNP Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke.
“If I had any information on their whereabouts, I would present it here without any reservation.”
His statement, however, did little to calm growing fears among human rights groups and families of the missing men.
“This Is a Test of Regional Justice”
Activists across Kenya and Uganda are demanding transparency and accountability. Many believe this case could set a precedent for cross-border justice.
“This is not just about Bob and Nicholas. It’s a test of regional justice and human dignity,” said a Freedom Hive spokesperson.
As the seven-day deadline looms, pressure mounts on Ugandan authorities to act swiftly. The region watches closely, hoping for answers—and praying for life.
