Tension Rises as Kenya Demands Uganda Reveal Fate of Abducted Activists Njagi and Oyoo

Fear and frustration have gripped Kenya following the mysterious abduction of two activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, in Kampala. The duo vanished on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, after reportedly meeting Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

“They Were Taken by Armed Men”—Eyewitness Recalls Terrifying Moment

According to a fellow activist who was also abducted and later released, the two were seized at a petrol station in Kireka.

“They bundled us into a waiting car,” the activist recounted. “Then they sped off with Njagi and Oyoo,” he added.

Immediately after the abduction, their phones went off. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

“We’ve Raised the Alarm”—Kenya’s Foreign Ministry Demands Answers

Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’Oei confirmed that Kenya’s Mission in Uganda had formally contacted Ugandan authorities.

“We’ve taken up the matter with local authorities,” Sing’Oei stated. “We need urgent clarification on their safety,” he added.

The High Commission in Kampala sent a diplomatic note to Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Families Are in Distress”—Civil Society Joins the Push

Civil society group Vocal Africa raised the alarm through a letter to Kenya’s Foreign Ministry. The families of the missing activists are desperate for answers.

“This incident has caused deep distress,” the Mission noted. “We urge Uganda to act swiftly,” it added.

Kenya requested Uganda to liaise with security agencies and provide updates on the activists’ condition.

“We Need Them Back”—Kenya Urges Swift Action

The government emphasized the urgency of locating Njagi and Oyoo. Their safe return is now a top priority.

“We request assistance in securing their release,” the Mission stated. “Their families deserve closure,” it added.

The diplomatic pressure continues to mount as the days pass without any word.

“This Is a Human Rights Crisis”—Public Demands Transparency

Kenyans have taken to social media demanding accountability and justice. Many are calling for international intervention.

“We can’t stay silent while our people disappear,” tweeted one activist. “This is a human rights crisis,” another posted.
