Tragedy in Embakasi: GSU Officer Killed After Hotel Dispute

Shock and grief engulfed Nairobi on Sunday evening, October 12, after a General Service Unit (GSU) officer stationed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was killed during a violent altercation at a hotel in Embakasi.

“He Just Came to Charge His Phone”

According to police reports, the officer had visited the resort off Mombasa Road simply to charge his mobile phone. However, what began as a routine stop quickly turned deadly.

“The officer was assigned to guard the JKIA perimeter fence. He had come to the hotel to charge his phone,” the report stated.

Witnesses say a civilian confronted the officer, and the situation escalated into a physical fight.

“I Saw Him Being Strangled”

A supervisor at the resort gave a chilling account of the incident.

“I witnessed an unidentified man strangling the officer inside the hotel,” the supervisor revealed.

Moments later, officers from Embakasi Police Station arrived at the scene. Tragically, they found the officer’s lifeless body submerged in a nearby water-filled trench.

“His Neck and Face Were Bruised”

The officer had visible injuries, especially around his neck and face. One witness suggested strangulation may have caused his death.

“He was overpowered during the fight. The injuries suggest he was strangled,” the witness added.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, whose identity remains unknown. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“Another Officer Dead Under Unclear Circumstances”

This incident adds to a disturbing trend of officers dying in entertainment venues under unclear circumstances. Earlier this year, another GSU officer was shot dead by his colleague after a heated argument outside a Nairobi club.

“The constable withdrew his firearm and shot his colleague dead,” police confirmed.

The shooter tried to flee but was stopped by angry members of the public.

“We Need Answers and Accountability”

The body of the slain Embakasi officer has been taken to City Mortuary. A post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities are now under pressure to address rising violence involving law enforcement officers. Families, colleagues, and citizens are demanding justice and transparency.

“This must not be another forgotten case. We need answers,” one resident said.
