Tension in Kasipul as ODM Aspirants Cry Foul Over Alleged Nomination Rigging Plans
Chaos is brewing in Kasipul Constituency just days before the ODM party nominations. Aspirants vying for the vacant MP seat have raised alarm over what they describe as suspicious silence and poor communication from party officials.
“Don’t Steal Our Votes,” Aspirants Warn ODM Officials
On Monday, several candidates voiced their frustrations. They claimed the lack of transparency could be a sign of a rigged process.
“If it were going to be free and fair, we’d already know who’s standing,” one aspirant lamented. “We have only four days left, and still no clarity,” he added.
Another contender issued a stern warning to party insiders allegedly plotting to manipulate the outcome.
“If you’re planning to steal our votes, try somewhere else—not Kasipul,” he declared. “We’ll resist and remind you the party doesn’t belong to you,” he added.
Aspirants Demand Equal Access and Fair Play
The candidates insisted that all aspirants deserve equal access to nomination details. They claimed only one contender had received information about the returning officer and tallying centre.

“We talk about democracy. Let’s practice it at the constituency level too,” one aspirant urged.
They emphasized that the people of Kasipul must be allowed to choose their leader without interference.
“Let the people decide. Don’t decide in your house,” another aspirant said. “ODM today is not the ODM you think,” he added defiantly.
Fears of Voter Apathy and Election Fallout
The aspirants warned that any attempt to rig the nominations would discourage voter turnout. They believe such actions could repeat during the November 27 by-election.

“If the will of the people is twisted, ODM will lose,” one candidate predicted.
Although they didn’t name the allegedly favored candidate, they accused county leaders of pushing personal interests.
“We already know who they want. But we won’t allow it,” another aspirant stated.
A Seat Shadowed by Tragedy
The Kasipul MP seat became vacant after the tragic death of Charles Ong’ondo Were. He was gunned down in Nairobi on April 30, leaving the constituency in mourning and political uncertainty.
Now, as the nominations approach, Kasipul residents are watching closely. Will ODM uphold democracy, or will internal politics derail the process?
