Ruto Urges Honest Criticism: ‘Petty Politics Won’t Build Our Country
Kilifi – President William Ruto urged Kenyans to give constructive feedback to help the government improve governance and development. He spoke during the Kilifi International Investment Conference in Vipingo on Thursday, December 5.
Ruto emphasized that progress requires honest criticism, not divisive politics. “If something is wrong, say it is wrong. Avoid petty politics. We have a country to care for,” he said.
The president applauded Kilifi’s leadership for fostering unity among political parties. He praised their collaboration as a model for progress. “When people are doing the right thing, we must encourage them to do even better,” he added.

Why Kilifi leaders praised by The President?
Ruto cited Kilifi as an example of counties driving Kenya’s transformation. He announced that the government is establishing flagship Export Processing Zones in Busia, Eldoret, Murang’a, and Kirinyaga. Over 50% of these projects are already complete.
Additionally, Ruto revealed the licensing of 39 Special Economic Zones, including 10 along the coast. These zones aim to attract investors, boost regional potential, and create jobs.
Why is the church openly criticising government?
Meanwhile, the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) explained its public criticism of the government. Chairperson Elias Agola said private discussions with the government had failed to address corruption and economic challenges. “We cannot stay silent. Politicians know we will hold them accountable,” Agola declared.
Ruto reassured Kenyans that his administration prioritizes economic growth and public welfare. He highlighted key initiatives, including lowering fuel prices and stabilizing food costs. “We are making progress. Let us unite for the sake of our country,” he concluded.
Kenyans are urged to embrace constructive dialogue and reject divisive politics. Progress, Ruto stressed, depends on collective action and accountability.
