Kenya’s Top Nominated Female Senators: Who Leads the Pack?
Nairobi, Kenya – Senators Miraj Abdillahi, Hamida Ali Kibwana, and Crystal Asige have been recognized as Kenya’s top-performing nominated female senators. A recent Global Ranking Analysis survey highlighted their strong contributions and growing influence in leadership.
Miraj Abdillahi of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) led the rankings with an impressive score of 86.4%. She outperformed Hamida Ali Kibwana of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), who scored 82.5%. Crystal Asige, also from ODM, followed closely with 80.4%.
Other notable performers included Maureen Tabitha Mutinda of UDA with 79.3%. Cathrine Muyeika Mumma (ODM), Joyce Chepkoech Korir (UDA), and Beth Kalunda Syengo (ODM) were also commended for their valuable contributions.
What Helped These Female Senators Excel?
The survey used clear criteria to rank the senators. Sponsorship of impactful bills was the most important factor. Regular attendance and active participation in Senate committee meetings further boosted their performance.
Media visibility played a key role. The senators were assessed for appearances on regional and national platforms. Their social media activity, particularly on Facebook and X, added to their rankings.
Community engagement was crucial as well. Senators who organized community events and directly impacted lives in their constituencies stood out. Their efforts reflected leadership rooted in service andout.

Who Ranked Female senators at the Bottom?
Some senators struggled to perform. Beatrice Akinyi Oyomo earned 65%, while Esther Okenyuri Anyieni and Nyamu Caren Njeri ranked lowest with 48.5% and 47%. These results highlighted the difficulties of maintaining consistent legislative impact in a competitive environment.

A Mizani Africa survey revealed Embakasi East MP Babu Owino as the favorite for Nairobi governor if elections occurred now. He secured 37.3% support, positioning him as a top contender for the city’s leadership.

Babu Owino dominated in eight out of 17 constituencies surveyed. His 82.4% support in Embakasi East demonstrated his influence and ability to challenge incumbent Governor Johnson Sakaja. This performance suggests a fierce political battle ahead.
