Oduor, who served as Raila’s personal bodyguard for over two decades, passed away on Wednesday, April 2. He had been admitted to Nairobi West Hospital for two weeks before his untimely demise. He was a familiar presence at Raila’s public appearances and political events.
ODM’s Director of Communications, Philip Etale, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, expressing his sorrow.
“This is one man who stood by me at all costs. I have lost a friend. Big bro. Rest easy, George. Wa!” Etale mourned.
“George was not just a friend to me personally but a cherished member of our broader community. His presence and warmth touched many lives. He was a man of great integrity, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment. His passing is a deep loss—not only to his family and friends but to all who knew him. We take solace in the rich legacy he leaves behind: one of kindness, service, and enduring friendship,” Nassir said.

Many Kenyans expressed their grief online, praising Oduor’s loyalty to Raila.
