Peter Salasya Slams Edwin Sifuna Over ODM Remarks, Declares Party Irrelevant: “A Thing of the Past”

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has launched a fiery criticism against ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of misleading Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. In his latest remarks, Salasya dismissed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), led by Raila Odinga, as irrelevant and disconnected from young people.

“ODM Is a Thing of the Past”

Speaking passionately, Salasya declared ODM obsolete, asserting its dwindling influence among younger generations. He made it clear that he would not entertain ODM-related discussions during any of his political engagements.

“I won’t allow you to come and discuss ODM issues during my party meeting; I’ll have to send you away, Edwin Sifuna. What you did to Kalonzo was unacceptable. ODM is a thing of the past, sold out by your boss to Ruto,” Salasya said

A Call for Change

The outspoken legislator further urged Sifuna to explore alternative political platforms, suggesting that ODM no longer aligns with modern aspirations. Salasya claimed that young people today are less interested in party politics and more focused on rejecting poor leadership.

“Sifuna, find another party and stop talking about ODM in this Gen Z era. We’re no longer interested in party politics; as young people, we’re focused on rejecting bad leadership. ODM died a long time ago. You only showed up to mislead Kalonzo,” he stated.Sifuna Fires Back

Sifuna, in his defense, had recently criticized unnamed individuals who, he alleged, abandoned ODM’s core principles to align with President William Ruto’s agenda. The Nairobi Senator remained resolute in his commitment to ODM, challenging defectors to officially join Ruto’s UDA party.

“Some people are telling me they are tired of defending Kenyans, that they were not born to be in the opposition. I want to say this: I will continue standing by the truth. If something is bad, I will say it as it is. Those tired of defending Kenyans’ rights should leave the party and join UDA. Why pretend to love the president the most when he belongs to another party?” Sifuna questioned.

A Divided Opposition

Sifuna also asked for prayers from MP Nabii Nabwera, affirming his loyalty to ODM despite its internal struggles. His words underscored the deepening divisions within the opposition as leaders debate the party’s direction.

A Battle of Ideologies

Salasya’s bold statements and Sifuna’s defensive stance reveal the growing ideological rift within ODM and the opposition coalition. As younger politicians like Salasya push for change, traditional party structures face mounting pressure to adapt or risk fading into irrelevance.
