Parents Warned as Deadly Drug Causes Zombie-Like Hallucinations Among Teens

Parents have been urged to stay alert after authorities raised the alarm over a dangerous drug secretly spreading among teenagers. The substance, nicknamed “whites” and “blues”, is reportedly leaving users in a zombie-like state of hallucination.

Speaking during a county awareness drive, the Chief Officer for Environment, Mr. Mosiria, warned families to take the threat seriously.

“As the Chief Officer for Environment, I wish to caution parents and guardians to be extra vigilant about the well-being of their children. A dangerous drug, commonly referred to as ‘whites’ or ‘blues’, is now finding its way into the hands of young people,” Mosiria said.

Drugs Sold in Pharmacies Without Prescriptions

According to Mosiria, the drugs are meant for patients struggling with mental health disorders. However, rogue pharmacies are now secretly selling them to unsuspecting teenagers without medical prescriptions.

“Some of these drugs are being sold illegally in pharmacies to teenagers, which is very dangerous,” he alleged.

He stressed that misuse of the pills is extremely harmful because the narcotics alter brain functions and cause severe hallucinations, confusion, and abnormal behaviour.

Call for Strict Pharmacy Crackdown

Mosiria called on the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) to take urgent action. He demanded stricter inspections and tighter rules to curb the illegal sale.

“I urge the Pharmacy and Poisons Board to inspect the pharmacies selling these drugs and put in place new regulations to prevent misuse,” he said.

Parents Urged to Monitor Behaviour Changes

The officer also appealed to parents and guardians to carefully watch over their children’s behaviour. He warned that sudden changes could be an indicator of drug use.

“I therefore appeal to all parents and guardians: Monitor your children closely and be alert to sudden changes in their behaviour. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice signs such as hallucinations or abnormal conduct,” he cautioned.

Agencies Join the Fight

The county government has already begun working with the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) and other security agencies. Their aim is to block supply routes and save the youth from addiction.

Mosiria ended with a powerful plea, insisting that fighting drug abuse is a shared responsibility.

“Let us all remain vigilant and work together to protect our children and safeguard the future of our generation,” he added.

Fear Rising Among Parents

Parents across the county have expressed fear, with many demanding immediate crackdowns. Online, Kenyans voiced concern over how easily dangerous substances reach children. Some praised the warning, while others blamed lax law enforcement.
