Sudi’s Decision to Forgive the Youths
After reviewing the case, Sudi chose to forgive the protesters rather than pursue legal action. Lamaya reiterated the MP’s position, saying:
“We have forgiven them unconditionally. We are not going to follow them on any charges that were filed against them. We also want to thank Oscar Sudi for giving us direction on what to do and agreeing to release these young ones.”
After the court ruling, the accused expressed gratitude to Sudi for his forgiveness. One of the released protesters apologized for their actions and asked the MP for employment opportunities.
“I want to really thank Sudi. He said he would forgive us, and he has finally done it. We appreciate it. We are now free,” she said.
Another added:
“We are asking you (Sudi) to help us get jobs. We are very idle, and that explains why we got caught up in this. The only way to help us is to offer employment. We are willing to do anything.”
