Pro-Govt MPs Demand Gachagua’s Immediate Arrest Over Alleged Incitement
A section of pro-government Members of Parliament now want former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua arrested. They claim he incited violence and sponsored destruction during recent protests.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa led the charge during a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday morning.
“We are demanding the immediate arrest of the former DP who has been on record sounding drums of war, inciting our young people against individuals who do not subscribe to his political ideology,” Barasa said.
He further alleged that Gachagua had mobilised and funded youth from Central Kenya to target Nairobi’s Central Business District.

“It is clear that our former impeached DP has been mobilising resources and goons to destroy government properties and target businesses of people who do not support his ideas,” he added.
Leaders Condemn Protest Violence
Rongo MP Mark Nyamita echoed the same concerns. He insisted that the peaceful protests had been hijacked by thugs with political agendas.
“What took place yesterday could destroy our nation,” Nyamita warned.
“We understand the challenges that are in our country, but there are methods of solving those challenges, and it is not the route that we saw yesterday.”
He pleaded with Kenyans to wait for the 2027 General Election to make their voices heard.

“We want peace in our country. If you want change, use the ballot, not chaos,” he urged.
Migori MP Says Protests Were Attempt to Overthrow Govt
“This was not just a protest. It was an organised attempt to overthrow a legally elected government,” she claimed.
“Those behind these actions must face the full wrath of the law.”
Protests Turn Deadly as Police Clash With Youth
The MPs’ remarks came a day after Kenyans held countrywide demonstrations to honour youth killed during last year’s anti-finance bill protests.

Although the marches began peacefully, chaos erupted when police confronted demonstrators.
According to Amnesty Kenya, at least eight people were shot, and over 400 others injured. Among them, 83 were admitted to hospitals with critical injuries.
