Kiambu Leaders Endorse Natembeya for Presidency as 2027 Race Heats Up

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has officially declared his intention to run for president in 2027. His announcement came during a weekend rally at Ndura Stadium, where he received a powerful endorsement from Agikuyu elders.

“We Want You to Tour the Mountain”

Led by elder John Waweru, the group pledged full support from the Mt Kenya region. They praised Natembeya’s courage and vision.

“You have entered the Mt Kenya region and shown the willingness to work with us,” Waweru said.

“We now want you to come and do a tour of the mountain so that you can get the support from our people.”

This endorsement marks a significant shift in regional alliances, signaling growing momentum behind Natembeya’s bid.

“We Say Wantam Because We Want Change”

Natembeya welcomed the backing with gratitude and determination. He emphasized that his campaign seeks unity, not division.

“When we say Wantam, we do not say so because we hate the President,” Natembeya stated.

“Ours is a quest to see a better and prosperous Kenya where everyone, regardless of their role or age, feels part of the national progress.”

He promised to fight unemployment, corruption, and unequal resource distribution.

“We’re Tired of Settling for Less”

Natembeya criticized the recurring trend among Western leaders. He said they often declare presidential ambitions only to settle for lesser roles.

“Every election cycle, Luhya leaders come out declaring their intention to run for the presidency,” he said.

“Only to settle for Cabinet, Speaker, or other government positions once negotiations begin.”

He vowed to break that cycle and push the Luhya agenda forward.

“It’s because of this repeated pattern, and many other reasons, that we’ve decided it’s time to go for the real seat, the President’s seat,” he added.

“We are ready for Ruto’s position because too many of our leaders have failed to push the Luhya agenda to its rightful place.”

“A United Opposition Is the Goal”

Natembeya’s recent tours across Western Kenya have sparked interest. He’s positioning himself as a unifying figure for opposition forces.

His message resonates with many who feel excluded from national leadership. With Kiambu leaders now backing him, his campaign gains a strategic boost.
