Kenya Railways Warns Kenyans Over Fake Jobs Adverts Circulating Online
The warning comes as thousands of job seekers continue to search for employment opportunities, creating a fertile environment for fraudsters who use the names of government agencies and major companies to attract unsuspecting applicants.

“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing the rounds on various social media platforms,” Kenya Railways warned.
The corporation cautioned job seekers against responding to unverified employment offers or sharing personal information with individuals behind the advertisement.
Kenya Railways said members of the public should confirm employment opportunities through its official communication channels before submitting applications.
“We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website: www.krc.co.ke,” the corporation added.
The advertisement also claimed that applicants from different parts of the country could apply, with August 30, 2026, given as the deadline.
However, Kenya Railways has since disowned the notice and confirmed that it is not a genuine recruitment advertisement.

The clarification is expected to help job seekers distinguish genuine Kenya Railways vacancies from fraudulent advertisements circulating online.
How Kenyans Can Avoid Fake Job Scams
Applicants are advised to avoid paying money to individuals claiming to guarantee employment. They should also avoid sending sensitive documents, identification details or financial information to unverified contacts.
Job seekers should instead check whether a vacancy appears on the employer’s official website and confirm the recruitment process before applying.
Construction of the SGR extension towards Kisumu and the Malaba border is underway, with the project passing through several counties, including Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Kericho and Kisumu.
The wider railway expansion is expected to improve the movement of passengers and cargo between western Kenya and the Port of Mombasa.
As Kenya Railways continues with the expansion of its operations, the corporation’s latest warning serves as a reminder to job seekers to verify recruitment information before taking action.
