“Having heard your advice, and noting that by reading this I will be incriminating myself, and this is attached to my work. I find this so unfair,” she argued.
“It is very simple. There are only two ways; you either read as prescribed, walk in and take your seat, or you don’t read as prescribed, and you walk out until such time when you will be ready to read the oath as prescribed,” Kingi declared.
Emotional Departure
Orwoba refused to back down. She accused the Speaker of unfairly pressuring her while her colleagues remained silent. She warned them that they could face similar treatment in the future.
“I still stand by my dignity and where I am. I have no option but to walk away from my duties because I cannot read an incriminating statement on a matter that has not been investigated,” she said.
“It is truly unfair that an incriminating statement is put in an apology so that I can tie myself down to something that has not been investigated. I have no option but to walk away from the chambers. I would also like to inform this House that it is happening to me now, and it will happen to you in the future. I cannot trade a salary for something that has not been investigated. I can stay without the salary and the position,” she stated before storming out.

The Suspension Saga
Orwoba’s troubles began on February 12 when she was suspended for 79 days, later reduced to 30 days. The suspension stripped her of privileges such as sitting and mileage allowances. Her defiance now raises questions about whether she will face further disciplinary action.
