Gachagua to Make Procession From JKIA to CBD, Hold Kamukunji Rally on Thursday
According to Democratic for Citizens Party (DCP) deputy party leader Cleophas Malala, thousands of supporters will join a massive procession from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to the Nairobi Central Business District before gathering at Kamukunji Grounds for a major rally.
Malala Confirms “Mother of All Processions”
In a press briefing on Monday, August 18, Malala confirmed the plans and urged Kenyans to show up in large numbers.
“Last week, we announced that our party leader will return to the nation on Thursday, and we want to confirm that his return is still as scheduled. We call the people of Kenya to show up at JKIA to receive him, where we shall have a mother of all peaceful processions upon his arrival,” Malala said.
He emphasized that the rally will move from JKIA, pass through the CBD, and end at Kamukunji Grounds where Gachagua will speak.

“The procession will begin from JKIA to the Central Business District and later address a public rally at the Kamukunji grounds. The police are hereby notified to provide security, and they should not dare to disrupt the processions,” he added.
Claims of a Plot to Divert Plane
Malala further alleged that a plan is underway to prevent Gachagua from landing in Nairobi. He claimed that authorities may divert his plane to either Moi International Airport in Mombasa or Kisumu International Airport.
“Any attempt to apprehend Gachagua once he lands in the country will be met by our supporters across the country, and we have asked our supporters to be on standby,” Malala warned.
He assured that supporters in Mombasa and Kisumu have also been mobilized to counter any move to detain the former deputy president.
Warning Over International Image
In an interview on Monday morning, Malala also issued a stern warning to security agencies. He claimed that arresting Gachagua on Thursday would spark protests that could disrupt the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN).

“Detaining Gachagua at a time when the country is in the global spotlight due to the ongoing football tournaments will, in turn, tarnish President William Ruto’s reputation in the international arena,” Malala said.
As the countdown begins, all eyes are on JKIA, the CBD, and Kamukunji Grounds. Supporters expect a peaceful procession, but political tension remains high as security agencies prepare for Thursday’s events.
