Family of Missing Huduma Center Official Hussein Abdirahman Pleads With Govt to Act Two Months On
From Isiolo County, the family is now pleading with President William Ruto’s government to intervene and end their agony.
Family Demands Action
“Hussein is a senior government official; he is not just a public officer. The funny part is, we have not seen any efforts from the government to trace his whereabouts. Our question is, what is happening, what is the government doing?” Katra lamented.
The family says the lack of response is deepening their pain.
“It would have been better to know if he was dead or alive; now we don’t know anything,” they said.
Community Joins the Outcry
The Ajuran Professional Association, a respected community group, also voiced concern. They condemned the silence and warned that the disappearance was now a national matter.
“If he is not in the hands of the government, then they should help look for him. But now, the government is not looking for him, nor is it saying anything about his disappearance,” one of the elders stated.
Last Known Movements
Hussein vanished on Tuesday, July 8, after attending an official function in Wajir County. Photographs later confirmed he had been seated among dignitaries during the event. Hours later, he disappeared without a trace.
His family has since been left in confusion, admitting that all search efforts have led to dead ends.
Legal Push for Answers
In desperation, the family turned to the courts. They filed a habeas corpus petition under a certificate of urgency, demanding the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja produce Hussein or explain his whereabouts by July 14.
Almost two months later, no answers have been provided, and Hussein remains missing.
Growing Fears in Northern Kenya
The family also warned that enforced disappearances are becoming more common in Northern Kenya, raising fear and mistrust among communities.
For the family, every passing day without answers only deepens the wound.
