Elon Musk Applauds Uhuru Kenyatta’s Stand on Foreign Aid: “Good for Him”
Billionaire tech mogul and X owner Elon Musk has backed former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s bold remarks on foreign aid dependency. Musk reacted to a viral video of Uhuru mocking African leaders upset over former U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to cut foreign funding.
Taking to X, Musk shared the video and captioned it, “Good for him.” His reaction has ignited discussions on self-reliance and Africa’s economic future.
Uhuru’s Strong Message to African Leaders
Speaking at the East Africa Region Global Health Security Summit in Mombasa on January 29, Uhuru criticized African leaders’ reliance on foreign aid. He urged them to take responsibility for their nations’ economic stability instead of lamenting aid cuts.
“Why are you crying? It’s not your government, it’s not your country. He has no reason to give you anything. You don’t pay taxes in America,” Uhuru said.
His statement came after Trump’s administration announced the suspension of U.S. foreign aid to several countries. The move sparked outrage among African leaders who rely on such funding for development projects and health programs.

Time for Self-Reliance
Uhuru emphasized that foreign assistance is unreliable and that African nations must prioritize self-sufficiency.
“Instead of crying, we ought to ask ourselves what we are going to do to help ourselves. Because nobody is going to continue giving you. It is time for us to use our resources for the right things,” he asserted.
His message resonated with many, including Musk, who has long championed economic independence and self-sustainability.
Musk’s Support Sparks Debate
Musk’s endorsement has fueled global discussions on foreign aid. Many of his followers agreed with Uhuru, arguing that African nations should develop internal solutions rather than relying on Western support.
Others, however, criticized the stance, pointing out that foreign aid plays a crucial role in supporting vulnerable populations, particularly in health, education, and infrastructure.
Africa’s Path Forward
Uhuru’s speech and Musk’s reaction highlight a growing global conversation on Africa’s economic future. While foreign aid has long been a pillar of development, leaders are now being challenged to seek alternative, sustainable solutions.
Will African nations take Uhuru’s advice and build self-reliant economies? Or will the dependency on foreign assistance persist? Only time will tell.
