Court Detains State House Killer for Two Weeks, Orders Urgent Medical Treatment
Shock and grief continue to grip the nation following the brutal killing of Police Constable Ramadhan Mattanka at State House, Nairobi. On Tuesday, October 14, the suspect, Kithuka Kimunyi, was arraigned at Kibera Law Courts just 24 hours after the deadly attack.
“He Was Asked to Leave, Then He Attacked”
During the court proceedings, prosecutors revealed chilling details of the incident. Kimunyi, armed with a bow and arrows, approached Gate D of State House early Monday morning.
“When he approached the gate, he was asked to leave and that is when he attacked the officers with arrows,” the prosecution stated.
He fired two arrows. One struck Constable Mattanka in the chest, fatally wounding him. Other GSU officers quickly subdued the attacker before he could cause more harm.

“He Was Limping in Court”
Kimunyi appeared in court visibly injured. He limped into the courtroom, suggesting he had sustained injuries during the scuffle with officers.
“The suspect will be detained for 14 days as investigations continue,” the magistrate ruled.
Before being taken into custody, the court ordered that Kimunyi receive medical treatment at Mbagathi Hospital.
“We Need Answers, Not Just Detention”
The attack has sparked national outrage and raised serious questions about security at one of Kenya’s most protected locations. Citizens are demanding accountability and transparency.
“This is not just about punishment. We need answers. How did he get that close?” asked a concerned Nairobi resident.
Security experts have also weighed in, urging a full review of protocols around State House.
“A Primitive Weapon, A Deadly Outcome”
“This incident shows we must rethink how we assess threats. Even primitive weapons can be deadly,” said a retired GSU officer.
Authorities are now under pressure to determine whether Kimunyi acted alone or had help. Investigators are combing through his background and motives.

“Justice for Mattanka Must Be Swift”
“He died protecting the nation. Let his sacrifice not be in vain,” a fellow officer said.
