Church Leaders Demand Action from Ruto, Slam Corruption and Failing Healthcare
Evangelical church leaders have criticized President William Ruto for overpromising and urged him to deliver results instead.
Bishop Kepha Omae of the Kenya Coalition of Church Alliance and Ministries (KCCCAM) asked Ruto to prioritize tangible projects. He stressed the need for a clear progress report to assess the president’s achievements.
“We need to see flagship projects completed. Overpromising without delivering risks losing public trust,” Omae stated firmly.
He also condemned the government’s failure to punish corrupt officials. According to Omae, Kenyans suspect top leaders tolerate corruption, creating widespread frustration.
“Failure to recover stolen public funds is unacceptable. Leadership must set the example in fighting corruption,” Omae added.
Health Sector Challenges Spark Concern
Omae criticized the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), stating it had worsened healthcare access. Many Kenyans, he said, now face high medical costs without functional health coverage.
“SHIF has left families struggling financially during tough economic times. Immediate reforms are necessary,” he emphasized.
Rutos Donations Under Scrutiny
Bishop Patrick Mungai of Calvary Church raised concerns about political donations to churches. While not opposing the practice, he questioned its intentions.
“We appreciate donations but need transparency. Politicians should avoid using churches for personal gain,” Mungai urged.

Praise for Adani Deal Cancellation
Despite their criticisms, the clergy commended Ruto for canceling controversial Adani deals. They saw it as proof of his willingness to listen to Kenyans.
“This decision showed courage. We hope such bold moves continue,” they remarked.
