However, within minutes, more boda boda operators arrived.
“They got upset and took matters into their own hands,” another witness shared. “They lit the bus on fire, burning it completely before help could arrive.”

Photos and videos circulating on social media show thick black smoke billowing from the wreck. The once-busy City Shuttle bus is now a charred shell.
Delayed Response Angers Public
The fire department and police came under harsh criticism for their delayed response.
“It took over an hour for police or any emergency response to arrive,” claimed a Twitter user who filmed the early stages of the fire. “Even the firefighters showed up late, when it was already too late to save anything.”
Strikingly, this was the second public transport fire within 24 hours. Just hours earlier, a Super Metro bus also went up in flames along Naivasha Road. The cause of that fire remains unknown, raising even more safety questions around PSVs.
Traffic Nightmare for Nairobi
Thursday’s events have added to traffic headaches across the city. With CHAN 2025 games being hosted today, major traffic reroutes were already in place.
