Ruto Heads West as Kenya Eyes Green Billions
His tour, announced on Sunday by Government Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, will see him sign a renewed Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership and attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain.
“The visit will unlock major investments, create jobs, and elevate Kenya’s competitiveness in trade, climate, technology, and security,”
Hussein Mohamed confirmed.
London Deal to Revamp Kenya’s Future
In London, Ruto is scheduled to meet UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Together, they will sign the Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership 2025–2030. This agreement rests on four main pillars: trade, climate, technology, and security.

“This partnership seeks to double trade by 2030, equip youth with digital skills, and deepen cooperation on regional stability, cyber threats, and climate action,”
the statement read.
Key projects include the long-awaited Nairobi Railway City, which will transform Nairobi’s CBD into a modern, transit-oriented hub. The UK has committed to mobilizing Ksh266 billion (£1.5 billion) in investments by 2030 to power these developments.

“Railway City Will Attract Global Investors”
“Under the green growth pillar, both governments will prioritize flagship projects like Railway City,”
the spokesperson noted.“This is a strategic move to turn Nairobi’s outdated rail station into a multi-modal, world-class hub.”
Discussions in London will center on implementation, private investment, and project timelines. Ruto will also oversee the announcement by Lloyd’s of London to open a regional underwriting hub in Nairobi, further solidifying Kenya’s position as a financial gateway to East Africa.
Ruto in Spain to Champion Fair Global Financing
In Spain, Ruto will take the stage at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development. The forum gathers global leaders to reshape development funding in an age of rising economic uncertainty and climate urgency.

“President Ruto will co-chair a high-level session and hold bilateral talks with leaders like Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and King Felipe VI,”
the statement revealed.
Their discussions will focus on clean energy, youth empowerment, and climate resilience.
“Ruto’s Fight for Climate Finance Comes Amid Chaos at Home”
The President’s foreign mission comes days after deadly protests rocked the country, raising concerns about priorities. However, Ruto remains determined to push for green deals, youth jobs, and tech-driven transformation.
“Kenya must lead the global conversation on climate, trade, and innovation,”
Hussein Mohamed emphasized.ALSO READ: A Step Towards Dignified Living: President Ruto Launches Boma Yangu Railway City Estate
