Kakamega: Wife Allegedly Kills Her 54-Year-Old Husband for Returning Home Late
Magnus Lumiti Anyika, aged 54, was found dead in his home on a tragic evening that has since rattled the village. His wife, Olivia Shisali, 48, is accused of striking him with a blunt object, ending years of a deeply troubled marriage.
A Marriage Full of Pain and Fear
Speaking with raw emotion, Magnus’ relatives revealed a long history of domestic abuse and alcohol-fueled violence.
“Our son has been enduring a lot,” said Setsu Atenya. “There was even a time he disappeared because his wife, a regular drinker, would beat him repeatedly.”
His brother, Rosemary Anjere, added that Magnus once left for Mombasa just to escape the constant attacks.
“Whenever his wife saw him, there would be a fallout,” he said.
Daughter’s Plea Ends in Tragedy
Recently, Magnus had moved out. However, one of their children asked him to return and rebuild their family.
Tragically, soon after moving back in, he was found dead with deep head injuries.
“Their daughter asked her father to come back home so they could support each other as a family,” said a family member. “Unfortunately, he was struck with a blunt object, which led to his death.”
The Scene: Blood, Silence, and Shock
Village elder Ernest Muloki and Nyumba Kumi official Muhanji Alisa rushed to the scene after a distress call from Magnus’ brother. They found his body in a pool of blood.
Soon after, Assistant Chief Harriet Sore arrived.
“It was around 1:00 p.m. when I received a call from the neighbours. When I arrived, Anyika was already dead,” she confirmed.
“It appears the assailants repeatedly struck his head with a blunt object.”

Blood stained the bedding and walls. The community stood frozen.
Men Cry for Protection Too
Residents are now urging the government to address domestic violence against men, a rising but often ignored crisis.
“We’ve seen women being killed before. But now men are victims too,” one villager said.
“We ask the government to protect men’s rights as well.”
Final Steps: Justice Begins
Shinyalu police transported Magnus’ body to Mukumu Mission Hospital, where a postmortem will confirm the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, authorities continue to investigate as grief-stricken family members demand justice.
