DCI Arrests Suspect Over Brutal Murder of Molo Form Four Student
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect was arrested on October 6 following a sustained manhunt that led detectives to a hideout in Lagwenda village, Kuresoi North.
The suspect had reportedly gone into hiding after the killing as investigators intensified efforts to establish his whereabouts.

“A murder suspect who went on the run after the brutal killing of a Form Four student in Molo has been arrested, following a sustained manhunt by detectives,” the DCI said.
According to investigators, the joint team tracked the suspect to his hideout before moving in and arresting him.
Suspect found wearing blood-stained clothes
He was reportedly wearing blood-stained boxer shorts, a white T-shirt and black jeans that had dry blood stains.
“When the long arm of the law finally caught up with him, Kipkoech was wearing a blood-stained boxer, a white T-shirt bearing the deceased’s name at the hem, and black jeans with visible dry blood stains,” the DCI added.
The suspect was escorted to Molo Police Station, where he was being processed ahead of his expected arraignment in court.
Police investigate possible relationship dispute
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was the deceased student’s boyfriend.
Detectives are now investigating a possible relationship dispute as one of the motives behind the killing.
However, investigators have not established the final motive, and the allegations against the suspect are yet to be tested in court.
The arrest follows a disturbing discovery at Joy’s family home in the Kiambaa area of Moto Location.
Student found dead at family home
Joy was reportedly found dead on Sunday evening by her brother after he returned home from running errands.

The teenager had suffered fatal injuries, and detectives launched investigations after the discovery.
Investigators reportedly recovered several weapons near the scene, including a bloodstained axe, a panga and two knives.
Her head was later found in a corridor within the home.
Detectives also reported that a message had allegedly been written in blood on a wall. The message reportedly expressed love, referred to cheating and contained an apology.
Suspect awaits court appearance
The arrest brings an end to the initial manhunt for the suspect, but the investigation is expected to continue as detectives gather forensic and other evidence.
Police have not disclosed whether additional suspects are being pursued.

The DCI has continued to appeal for information that could assist investigators as they build the case.
