“He Must Go!”—Kiambu MCAs Threaten to Impeach Governor Wamatangi Over Health Crisis
Tensions are boiling in Kiambu County as Members of County Assembly (MCAs) threaten to impeach Governor Kimani Wamatangi. The leaders accuse him of mishandling a health crisis that has crippled services across the county.
“We Will Stand With the People”—MCAs Declare Impeachment Plans
Speaking on Tuesday, October 14, nominated MCA Susan Njeri made a bold declaration. She vowed to support residents in pushing for Wamatangi’s removal.

“Some MCAs and other leaders are going to stand by you in this matter of impeachment,” Njeri said. “If someone can dispute the figures of babies who died, then he doesn’t deserve to lead,” she added. “He deserves to go home like yesterday,” she declared.
“This Is a Witch Hunt”—Wamatangi Denies Crisis
“The figure was cooked up by KMPDU to paint the county in a bad light,” Wamatangi said. “This is a political witch hunt,” he added. “My rivals are out to discredit our health efforts,” he insisted.
Despite the strike, Wamatangi maintains that hospitals are operational.
“Hospitals Are Running”—County Health Officer Defends Governor
Kiambu County Chief Officer for Health Patrick Nyagah backed the governor’s claims. He assured residents that services were still available.
“Reports of paralysis are false,” Nyagah stated. “Hospitals are up and running,” he added.
However, many residents and leaders remain unconvinced.

“Transfer Health Services!”—MPs and Lobby Groups Demand Action
The crisis has drawn national attention. Members of Parliament have called for the transfer of Kiambu’s health services to the national government.
“We need urgent intervention,” one MP said. “Lives are at stake,” another added.
Lobby groups have also issued a seven-day ultimatum to the county government. If ignored, they plan to petition for the county’s dissolution.
“This Is Not the First Time”—Governor Faces Repeat Threats
Now, with pressure mounting again, his leadership hangs in the balance.

“We won’t back down this time,” Njeri warned.
