CAF Increases Stadium Capacity for Kenya vs Madagascar Game by 20%

Kenyan football fans have every reason to celebrate. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has increased stadium capacity for Harambee Stars’ clash against Madagascar by 20 per cent.

More Fans Allowed at Kasarani

The Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani, will now host at least 38,400 fans. This is a big leap from the 27,000 who attended Kenya’s last group game against Zambia.

The move followed a successful appeal by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), supported by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya. CAF had earlier capped attendance at 60 per cent after chaos marred the Kenya vs Morocco game on August 10.

Lessons From Morocco Clash

During that tense clash, fans forced their way through the first gates at Kasarani, forcing CAF to impose tough restrictions.

However, the match against Zambia was calm. Fans observed the 27,000 cap and embraced government-approved fan zones. This positive change convinced CAF to ease its sanctions.

Fan Zones Expanded

For the Madagascar showdown, the number of fan zones has risen to 13. New locations include Ruiru, Dagoretti’s Camp Toyoyo, and Babadogo.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya urged Kenyans to remain disciplined.

“I urge all Kenyans to strictly adhere to CAF protocols and regulations,” Mvurya said.

“If you already have a ticket, proceed directly to Kasarani Stadium. If not, make use of the designated fan zones, which are fully prepared to host the overwhelming number of supporters.”

Extra Tickets Released

The ticketing portal has reopened to accommodate the increased capacity. Thousands of supporters rushed online to secure their seats.

Mvurya encouraged fans to continue their orderly behavior.

“Let us maintain this positive momentum so that we do not jeopardize our attendance numbers, especially as we set our sights on the finals.”

Fans React With Excitement

News of the expanded capacity sparked joy across Nairobi.

James Mwangi, a die-hard Harambee Stars supporter, said:
“I missed the last game because tickets sold out quickly. Now, I finally have a chance to watch my team live.”

Another fan, Beatrice Achieng from Ruiru, expressed relief.
“The fan zone at Ruiru will make it easier for those of us who cannot get tickets. We still feel part of the action.”

Social media also buzzed with excitement. Many supporters vowed to turn Kasarani into a sea of red, green, and black.

High Stakes for Harambee Stars

Friday’s clash against Madagascar could be Kenya’s last game at Kasarani unless Harambee Stars reach the finals.

Emotions are running high as fans rally behind the team. The bigger crowd, they believe, could provide the energy Harambee Stars need to push forward.

As Kenya braces for the showdown, the message remains clear: passion, unity, and discipline will decide the day.
