UDA Kicks Out Ndindi Nyoro From Powerful Budget & Appropriations Committee
In a dramatic political twist, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has ousted Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro from the powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee.
Just months after being demoted as the committee’s chair, Nyoro has now been kicked out completely.
Instead, he has been reassigned to the Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee, a significant downgrade from his former role overseeing Kenya’s financial planning.
This was confirmed in a motion read by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Tuesday.

“Further to the resolution of the House of Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and Thursday, March 6, 2025, appointing members to various committees and pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 175, this House further approves the appointment of the following members to the respective committees as specified hereunder,” the motion stated.
Nyoro replaces Sankaire Leah Sopiato in his new position. Meanwhile, Mathioya MP Edwin Gishuk has taken over as a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, filling Nyoro’s slot.
The Speaker did not give any reason for the sudden changes.
Recently, he fiercely questioned the government’s justification for high fuel prices.
“The government is using cooked narratives to explain the rising fuel costs. Kenyans are being misled,” Nyoro had said.
He also criticized the government’s borrowing tactics, especially the controversial Ksh44.8 billion Talanta Infrastructure Bond, claiming it would enslave the country financially for decades.
“That Talanta Bond is a debt trap. It’s designed to look good, but it will burden us for years,” he warned.
Although the party has remained silent, Nyoro’s demotion has sent a clear message to dissenting voices within UDA.
Aside from Nyoro’s removal, several other changes were made across other parliamentary committees:
- In the Powers and Privileges Committee, Jane Njeri replaced Bwire John Okano.
- In the Public Petitions Committee, Karemba Eric Muchangi and Ntwiga Patrick Munene replaced Kagesi Kibai Ernest Ogesi and Mbai Nimrod Mbithuka respectively.
- Ahmed Shakeel Shabir replaced Oyo James Onyango in another unnamed committee.
- In the Public Accounts Committee, Mary Emase stepped in to replace Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku.

With these abrupt moves, the political temperature in Parliament is rising — and for Nyoro, it may just be the beginning of a much tougher political season.
