TSC Advertises CEO Job With Ksh698,600 Monthly Salary

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), offering a gross monthly salary of Ksh698,600 alongside several benefits.

The commission is seeking a substantive head of its secretariat to oversee the management of teachers and coordinate the implementation of TSC policies, decisions and strategies.

The successful candidate will serve as the accounting officer and custodian of TSC records while also overseeing staff and ensuring that decisions of the commission are implemented.

The CEO will further be responsible for coordinating the commission’s operations and ensuring that TSC effectively delivers its constitutional and statutory mandate.

The position has been held in an acting capacity by Eveleen Mitei since June 2025, following the completion of Nancy Macharia’s second and final five-year term as TSC CEO.

Mitei took over after Macharia proceeded on terminal leave before completing her tenure at the end of June 2025.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), offering a gross monthly salary of Ksh698,600 together with a range of additional benefits.

The successful applicant will become the head of the TSC secretariat and will be responsible for overseeing the commission’s day-to-day operations and implementation of its policies, decisions and strategies.

The CEO will also serve as the commission’s accounting officer and custodian of its records. Other responsibilities include executing decisions made by the commission, supervising staff and coordinating programmes aimed at fulfilling TSC’s mandate.

The position has been held in an acting capacity by Eveleen Mitei since June 2025, following the completion of Nancy Macharia’s second and final five-year term.

Mitei assumed the acting role after Macharia proceeded on terminal leave at the end of her tenure, leaving the commission without a substantive CEO.

TSC CEO Salary and Benefits

Under the advertised terms, the successful candidate will receive a gross monthly salary of Ksh698,600.

The package also includes a mortgage facility of up to Ksh30 million, an airtime allowance of Ksh15,000 per month and a leave allowance of Ksh50,000 annually.

The CEO will also be provided with an official vehicle with an engine capacity not exceeding 3,000cc.

The position comes with significant administrative responsibilities as TSC oversees the employment, deployment, promotion and discipline of teachers in Kenya’s public education system.

Requirements for TSC CEO Position

TSC has set several academic and professional requirements for applicants seeking to fill the position.

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens and hold a university degree in education from an institution recognised in Kenya.

Candidates must also have at least 10 years of relevant experience in areas including education, administration and management, public administration, human resource management or financial management.

Applicants are required to meet the leadership and integrity requirements set out under Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

They must also provide valid clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and a recognised Credit Reference Bureau.

How to Apply for TSC CEO Job

Interested candidates can submit their applications through the TSC recruitment portal, by email or physically at the commission’s headquarters.

Online applications can be submitted through the TSC recruitment portal, while applications sent electronically must be in PDF format.

Applicants may also submit their documents by hand at the office of the TSC Chairperson at TSC House in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

The commission requires applicants to submit a completed application form, curriculum vitae, certified copies of identification documents, academic and professional certificates and relevant testimonials.

TSC has set Friday, October 30, 2026, at 5pm as the deadline for receiving applications.

The recruitment comes at a time when the commission continues to manage a large public teaching workforce and implement reforms affecting teacher recruitment, promotion, deployment and professional development.

The incoming CEO will therefore take charge of the commission’s secretariat and work alongside commissioners in implementing decisions and policies governing Kenya’s teaching profession.
