“Staying Too Long Demoralises Officers”—Murkomen Explains Urgency
Murkomen didn’t mince words. He blamed long-term stationing for low morale and poor service delivery among officers.

“We have realised that one thing that demoralises police officers is the tendency to work in one station for a long period,” Murkomen said. “The police and Kenyans demanded time-to-time transfers to boost morale,” he added.
“The president has increased police salaries in phases,” Murkomen clarified. “The first and second phases are complete. The third phase will be done before the end of next year,” he added.
“We are procuring additional police vehicles to address mobility problems,” Murkomen said. “This will help officers respond faster and serve better,” he added.

As the reforms roll out, Kenyans are watching closely, hoping for a more motivated and better-equipped police force.
