Tighten Your Belts!”—Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna Ditches Wiper, Joins Ruto’s UDA in Bold Move

In a stunning political shift, Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna has officially ditched Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Movement and joined President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The announcement came on Friday, October 10, during a high-profile meeting at State House, Nairobi.

“I Thank Him for His Bold Move”—Ruto Welcomes Nguna

President Ruto didn’t hide his excitement as he welcomed Nguna into the ruling party. He praised the MP’s decision as courageous and development-focused.

“I specifically thank Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna for his bold move to join our team,” Ruto said. “He is ready to push forward the development agenda in his constituency,” he added.

Nguna, who was first elected in 2017 on a Democratic Party ticket and re-elected in 2022 under Wiper, now becomes the latest leader to cross over to UDA.

“Get Ready for Ruto”—Nguna Rallies His Constituents

During the meeting, Nguna urged his constituents to prepare for a wave of development projects and presidential visits.

“Tighten your belts! It’s going to be busy the next two weeks with President William Ruto,” Nguna declared.

His statement signaled a new chapter for Mwingi West, aligning the region with the ruling party’s development agenda.

“Politics of Progress”—Mutua Applauds the Defection

Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua also welcomed Nguna’s move, calling it a step toward meaningful change.

“He has chosen to abandon the politics of stagnation for progress and development,” Mutua said. “Lives in Ukambani will improve under Ruto’s philosophy of inclusion and empowerment,” he added.

Mutua didn’t hold back, criticizing what he called outdated and divisive ideologies.

“We reject the primitive phrase of ‘Nja Ng’endu’ and embrace growth,” he stated.

“UDA Gains Momentum”—Gideon Moi Also Steps Aside

Nguna’s defection follows closely on the heels of Gideon Moi’s withdrawal from the Baringo Senatorial by-election. Moi’s exit, confirmed by KANU Secretary General George Wainaina, left UDA with a clear path in the race.

“KANU will not field a candidate,” Wainaina said. “This gives UDA a free run,” he added.

With key leaders shifting alliances, UDA’s grip on the political landscape appears to be tightening.
