Vindu Vichenjanga: MP Amisi Warns Ruto Not to Count on Western Kenya Votes

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has sounded a warning for President William Ruto: Western Kenya’s support in the 2027 elections won’t come easily. In his view, vindu vichenjanga—things are changing. Ruto’s path to securing the Mulembe vote is paved with past grievances, and, according to Amisi, these can’t be ignored if he wants support from the re

Amisi believes Ruto might be looking west due to the fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, which could cost him Mt. Kenya votes. But he argues that assuming Western Kenya will be an easy win could backfire. “Ruto wants Western votes next election at a throwaway price through the perennial political dinosaurs, ostensibly because Kikuyu votes have a price tag. Well, think twice. Vindu vichenjanga,” he stated, suggesting that Western voters won’t just settle for political alliances without real action.

According to Amisi, Western Kenya has long faced economic struggles, historical injustices, and limited influence in national decisions. Voters want leaders who genuinely address these issues, not just make empty promises. To win Western support, Ruto will need to go beyond surface-level alliances with well-known figures and show a true commitment to the region’s needs.

Amisi’s recent meeting with elders from the Luhya Council of Elders in Trans Nzoia County highlighted his belief in a leadership approach that combines youth energy with elder wisdom. For him, this balance is what Western Kenya wants—a genuine partnership that reflects both tradition and progress.

The Saboti MP didn’t limit his criticism to Ruto alone; he also expressed doubts about Kalonzo Musyoka as a strong alternative in 2027. He described Kalonzo as “too quiet” and unwilling to make the tough sacrifices that Kenyans need, suggesting that only bold leaders will earn voters’ trust.

With 2027 approaching, Amisi’s message is clear: Western Kenya’s support won’t come cheap. Ruto, if he hopes to win over the region, must do more than just court old allies. As Amisi warns, vindu vichenjanga—the game has changed, and Western Kenya wants real action.
