Ruto Blames Poor Parenting for Youth Rebellion Amid Growing Criticism of His Government
Bomet – December 29
President William Ruto has attributed the moral decay in society to poor parenting and lack of proper guidance. Speaking during a church service at A.I.C. Koiwa Town, Konoin Constituency, he highlighted the growing concerns about youth behavior, particularly during anti-government protests earlier this year.
Ruto acknowledged the challenges his government has faced but emphasized collective responsibility in shaping the next generation. He noted that while the youth are a blessing, they have increasingly rebelled against authority.
“All these youths we have are a blessing that God has given us, and it is our responsibility as parents, religious leaders, and government leaders to work together so that we can take care of these children,” Ruto said.
A Call for Guidance and Mentorship
Ruto stressed the importance of mentorship, education, and prayer in helping the youth succeed. He urged parents to remain vigilant and guide their children away from destructive paths that could jeopardize their futures.
“We should guide them, educate them, provide mentorship, offer guidance, and pray for them so that they can succeed in life. And we should work with them so that they do not fall into traps that lead them to places that endanger their lives,” he stated.
He expressed concern about troubling trends among young people, including rising cases of violence and social unrest. According to Ruto, a lack of discipline and moral guidance is fueling these behaviors. He emphasized the need for parents, religious leaders, and political figures to collaborate in addressing the issue.

Youth Criticism Intensifies Amid Government Challenges
The President’s remarks come amid growing criticism from Kenya’s youth, especially Generation Z. This group has been vocal in expressing their frustrations with his administration. Earlier this year, they spearheaded intense anti-government protests, highlighting their dissatisfaction with policies and governance.
Ruto acknowledged the criticism but maintained that the solution lies in stronger parenting and collective mentorship. His remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing on the need for better guidance, while others blame systemic failures for the youth’s struggles.
Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi Appeals for Kasavuli’s Release
In a related story, prominent lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi called for the immediate release of Benard Kasavuli, a Mount Kenya University student. Kasavuli was reportedly abducted under unclear circumstances.
Ahmednasir described the student as harmless, stating that he only engages in online debates to learn. “I have interacted with Kasavuli several times through his posts, and he has never posed any threat,” Ahmednasir said. His appeal highlights growing concern over youth safety and freedom of expression.
