Gachagua Accuses Limuru MP of Orchestrating Funeral Chaos
Kiambu, Kenya – Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua accused Limuru MP John Kiragu of planning the chaos at a Limuru funeral. The violent disruption left mourners fleeing in panic, raising questions about political schemes and security failures.
“The Truth Is Obvious,” Gachagua Claims
Speaking on NTV Kenya on December 1, Gachagua alleged that attackers seen in videos were later escorting MP Kiragu. “It’s not rocket science to know these criminals and the MP shared the same mission,” he stated. He argued that the chaos was a deliberate attempt to target him politically.
Police Role Under Scrutiny
Gachagua criticized the police for failing to prevent the violence despite prior warnings. He alleged top security officials met at Tigoni Police Station a day before the funeral. “That meeting gave attackers a free hand,” he claimed. He also stated criminals began arriving at 8 a.m., but no preventive action was taken.
He further revealed that the family had requested police protection, but officers arrived in civilian clothes and failed to act. “The police were complicit in this chaos,” he insisted.
Violence Disrupts Funeral Ceremony
The unrest erupted as former MP Peter Mwathi addressed mourners. The attackers overturned the VIP tent, threw chairs, and stoned vehicles. Vehicles belonging to Gachagua and other leaders sustained damage, and mourners ran for safety. The bereaved family removed the body hurriedly as chaos escalated.
Allegations of a Political Plot
Gachagua accused his rivals of orchestrating the violence to paint him as a divisive figure. “This was a calculated move to tarnish my image,” he argued. He demanded answers from security officials and local leaders.
The incident has intensified political tensions in Limuru, with Gachagua calling for accountability and justice. He urged leaders to stop using funerals as platforms for political games
