Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo Threatens to Sue Nation Media Over CBD Goons Report
On Thursday, June 19, Odhiambo exploded in fury after Nation’s front-page headline, “How Chaos Was Planned in the City,” named him among key planners behind the violent attacks on peaceful protesters.
“I woke up today to propaganda in Nairobi saying I organised goons to battle protesters,” the MCA fumed.
“I want to appeal to Nation Media. I want you to present evidence whether I am involved in this incident.”
Front Page Sparks Uproar
The explosive article featured photos of National Police Spokesperson Michael Muchiri, “Gaucho,” and MCA Odhiambo, linking them to the violence that marred the justice protests for slain blogger Albert Ojwang.
The story claimed the attacks were “planned days in advance” and directly pointed fingers at the Korogocho MCA as a central figure.
But Odhiambo didn’t take the accusations lightly.

“If I was involved in any planning of these protests, I want you (Nation) to investigate me,” he said firmly.
“Trace my phone because you’ve ruined my reputation and I will sue you in court.”
“I Support Peaceful Protests”
Odhiambo insisted he was never involved in any violent mobilization. In fact, he revealed he was doing a separate TV interview when the protests occurred.
“I’ve always advocated for peaceful protests because I have friends in Nairobi who suffer when property is destroyed in the city,” he declared.
“I have never advocated for violent protests.”
His emotional reaction struck a chord with many who felt the media had jumped to conclusions.
Sakaja Also Under Fire
But Sakaja quickly distanced himself.
“We categorically dissociate ourselves from any gangs, militias, or politically sponsored groups that exploit demonstrations to engage in criminal activity,” he said in a statement.
“We strongly condemn the destruction of public and private property witnessed last week, perpetrated by hired goons brought in from outside Nairobi.”
Legal Showdown Ahead?
Odhiambo has now put Nation Media on notice, demanding a retraction and threatening court action.

“You’ve defamed me without proof,” he said. “Either bring the evidence or meet me in court!”
