KCSE Scandal Sparks Crackdown: Ministry Vows Arrests and Tough Action Against Exam Cheats

The Ministry of Education has issued a stern warning as the 2025 KCSE exams enter their second day. With nearly one million candidates sitting the national exams, the government has vowed to protect their integrity at all costs.

“We Will Not Tolerate Cheating” — Ministry Issues Strong Statement

In a statement released Tuesday morning, the Ministry confirmed that isolated cases of exam malpractice had already been reported. Those involved are now in police custody.

“There have been isolated attempts at examination malpractices. Individuals who have been implicated have been arrested and the incidents are under investigation,” the Ministry stated.

“Immediate action will be taken against any individuals who will be found to be in violation of the applicable rules and regulations.”

This warning comes as the government intensifies efforts to ensure fairness and credibility in the national exams.

“Principal Suspended” — Narok School Under Investigation

In Narok County, a high school principal was suspended over suspected involvement in exam irregularities. Although the school and principal remain unnamed, officials confirmed disciplinary action.

“He was not working in accordance with the regulations that were set,” said Narok County Director of Education Apollo Apuko. “Therefore, the Deputy Principal will take over and run the examinations until they end.”

The suspension has triggered a full investigation into the school’s conduct during the exam period.

“Top School Under Scrutiny” — Kajiado Faces Exam Probe

Meanwhile, in Kajiado County, security agencies have launched a probe into a top-performing private boarding school. The school, which excelled in the 2024 KCSE exams, now faces serious questions.

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the suspected malpractice. However, the timing of the probe has raised eyebrows.

“We are committed to uncovering the truth. No school is above scrutiny,” said a senior education official.

“No Student Will Be Left Behind” — Ministry Responds to Natural Disaster

In addition to fighting cheating, the Ministry is also battling nature. Heavy rains and landslides in Elgeyo Marakwet have made roads impassable. As a result, the government will airlift exam materials to affected areas.

“We will ensure exams reach every candidate, no matter the terrain,” the Ministry confirmed.

Special arrangements have also been made for students hospitalized due to landslides. They will receive their papers under strict supervision.

“Integrity Is Non-Negotiable” — Government Sends Clear Message

The Ministry’s actions reflect a zero-tolerance stance on cheating. With arrests already made and investigations underway, the message is clear: exam integrity will not be compromised.

“We will preserve the credibility of KCSE. Every candidate deserves a fair chance,” the Ministry emphasized.

As the exams continue, students, teachers, and parents are urged to uphold honesty and discipline.
