Gachagua Pledges Mausoleum for Late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to build a mausoleum at the grave of former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, promising to honour his late friend with a lasting memorial.

Gachagua made the commitment on Friday, August 21, when he visited Ng’eno’s family in Mogondo, Narok County, to pay his respects to the former lawmaker.

The former Deputy President said he would personally support the construction after Ng’eno’s mother, Mary Temas, appealed for assistance in putting up a permanent structure over her son’s grave.

“I will help in the construction of a mausoleum in remembrance of Johana Ng’eno. I will build it because this leader resting here was my very good friend.”

Gachagua Responds to Mother’s Appeal

Temas told Gachagua that the family had previously appealed to several leaders to help construct a shelter over Ng’eno’s grave.

She said the request had remained unresolved about five months after the former MP was buried in March.

In response, Gachagua promised to work directly with the family to ensure the project is completed.

He said designers would be instructed to prepare a suitable structure based on the family’s wishes, particularly those of Ng’eno’s mother.

“We will work together with the family, and I will take responsibility for the cost of constructing the mausoleum.”

A representative of the family said relatives would first meet to agree on the design before obtaining estimates for the project.

The proposal will then be presented to Gachagua before construction begins.

Gachagua Honours Late Emurua Dikirr MP

During the visit, Gachagua accompanied Ng’eno’s mother to the gravesite, where he laid a wreath in honour of the former MP.

Ng’eno died in a helicopter crash in February, leaving behind his family and political supporters.

Gachagua said he would continue supporting Temas as a friend of her late son, noting that the loss had created difficulties for the family.

He said he was particularly concerned about her ability to meet basic needs, including medical expenses.

“As a friend of Johana, I will continue standing with his mother and supporting her where I can.”

Gachagua had previously spoken to Temas by telephone and promised to discuss with her concerns surrounding her son’s death.

The former Deputy President also claimed during the visit that President William Ruto had made several commitments to Ng’eno’s mother during the former MP’s burial that had not been fulfilled.

The claims were made during Gachagua’s visit and come amid increasingly competitive political activity in the region.

Gachagua Steps Up DCP Political Activities

The visit to Ng’eno’s family came as Gachagua continued his political activities in Emurua Dikirr.

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader was scheduled to address residents at Mogondor Centre during a political rally.

Heavy security was deployed around the centre ahead of the meeting, with police officers stationed in the area as supporters gathered.

Gachagua’s political activities come amid heightened attention to opposition rallies and concerns over security following reported incidents at a recent DCP rally in Nakuru County.

The former Deputy President has been building the DCP’s political presence as Kenya’s political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

His visit to Narok therefore combined a personal tribute to his late political ally with his ongoing political engagements.

For Ng’eno’s family, however, the immediate focus remains the proposed mausoleum, which Gachagua has promised to support as a permanent tribute to the late Emurua Dikirr MP.

The family is expected to finalise the proposed design and cost estimates before construction begins.
