EPRA Announces New Fuel Prices for May and June,What you need to know!
EPRA announced on Wednesday, May 15, that prices for super petrol, diesel, and kerosene will remain unchanged across the country from May 15 to June 14, 2025.
“In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th May 2025 to 14th June 2025,” the statement read.
Fuel Prices by City: Here’s What You’ll Pay
In Nairobi, fuel prices remain as follows:
- Super Petrol: Ksh174.63
- Diesel: Ksh164.86
- Kerosene: Ksh148.99
Meanwhile, in Mombasa, the prices are slightly lower:
- Super Petrol: Ksh171.39
- Diesel: Ksh161.62
- Kerosene: Ksh145.75
In Kisumu, motorists will pay:
- Super Petrol: Ksh174.67
- Diesel: Ksh165.24
- Kerosene: Ksh149.42
Why Are Prices Unchanged Despite Global Drops?
According to EPRA, fuel prices in Kenya depend on international market dynamics. Since the country imports all refined petroleum, the global market heavily influences domestic pricing.
In April, there was a drop in average landed costs:
- Super Petrol dropped 2.95%
- Diesel fell 6.62%
- Kerosene decreased 4.52%

Despite this, EPRA chose to keep local pump prices steady due to tax structures, including:
- 16% VAT
- Excise duty adjusted for inflation
- Provisions in the Finance Act 2023
- Changes in the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024
Mixed Reactions as Kenyans Weigh In
Although there were price drops globally, EPRA’s decision not to pass on these savings has drawn mixed reactions.

“At least there’s no increase this time,” said Peter Onyango, a Nairobi matatu driver.
“We are still struggling, but we’ll manage for now.”
