Didmus Barasa Hints at Ruto Reuniting with Gachagua Ahead of 2027 Poll: “Tutapanga Team”
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has hinted at the possibility of President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua reuniting ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking during a church service at Kapsang’ AIC Church in Uasin Gishu County, Barasa made it clear that political alliances are unpredictable.
Will Gachagua Support Ruto in 2027?
Barasa believes anything is possible in politics. He downplayed the significance of Gachagua’s impeachment, suggesting the former deputy president could still return to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“When the right time comes, even that Rigathi Gachagua whom we impeached, we will bring him back when we require him,” Barasa declared.
He explained that Gachagua was only found unsuitable for the deputy president role but could still contribute to UDA. According to him, political rehabilitation could pave the way for Gachagua’s return.
Gachagua’s Political Rehabilitation?
Barasa suggested that Gachagua needed time to reflect and learn from past mistakes. He insisted that, by 2027, the former second-in-command would have transformed into a more inclusive leader.
“He now knows that if you are a Deputy President, you are a leader of all the people. He is learning, and I’m sure the church is praying for him,” Barasa said.

Mount Kenya Factor in 2027 Politics
Barasa’s remarks come at a time when Gachagua is engaging various stakeholders in the Mt. Kenya region. The former deputy president is reportedly strategizing on a political comeback, including the possibility of launching a new political party.
Despite his fallout with Ruto, Gachagua remains influential in Mt. Kenya politics. His next move could shape the region’s role in the 2027 elections.
A Calculated Political Move?
Barasa’s statement signals that UDA may be open to mending broken relationships for strategic reasons. Politics often revolves around interests, and if Gachagua proves valuable, a reunion is not far-fetched.
The 2027 elections will likely be defined by shifting alliances, and Gachagua’s next steps will be closely watched. Will he reunite with Ruto or chart a new political path? Time will tell.
