DCP Party Reshuffles Leadership, Moves Headquarters in Bold Power Shift

In a dramatic move, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has shaken its top leadership. Alongside leadership changes, the party has also relocated its national headquarters.

The changes were officially announced in a gazette notice dated May 30, 2025, signed by Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 20 (1)(c) and (e) of the Political Parties Act… DCP intends to change its party official,” the statement read.

Key Figures Exit as New Leaders Step In

Top on the list of new appointees is David Mingati Parseina, who has taken over as National Chairperson, replacing Thomas Ratemo.

Meanwhile, Hezron Obanga now serves as the Secretary General, succeeding Mably Owino.

“These changes signal a new era for the party,” a source close to the leadership commented.

The changes haven’t stopped there.

Martin Ole Kamwalo is the new Deputy Secretary General for Operations, replacing Hussein Athman. At the finance helm, Annah Kavuu Mutua has replaced Laura Njeri as National Treasurer.

Moreover, Evangeline Wanjira Njoka has stepped into the role of Deputy Treasurer – Operations, a seat once held by Abdifatah Abdullahi.

Linturi Joins Leadership as Party Realigns

In a surprising twist, the party has roped in former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi as National Organising Secretary. He takes over from Joy Gatugi.

“This appointment reflects our vision to inject experience into the party’s growth,” the party said.

Also, Abubakar Abdi Ogle replaces Jeremiah Mong’eri as Deputy Organising Secretary – Operations.

Fresh Faces to Lead Women and Youth Wings

The National Women’s Caucus has also seen change. Catherine Wanjiku Waruguru now leads it, replacing Miriam Fredina Mariki.

In the youth docket, Serah Wanjiku Thiga takes over from Joel Sang as Chairperson of the National Youth Caucus.

DCP Moves Headquarters to Waiyaki Way

Additionally, the party has moved its main office from Riara Centre to a new home on Musa Gitau Road, off Waiyaki Way

“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes shall, within seven days… make their submissions,” Nderitu noted.

These sweeping changes come shortly after the official party launch on May 15, signaling a bold political strategy.

With a new team and headquarters, DCP seems poised for a fresh, fiery chapter.
