DCI Launches WhatsApp Number for Anonymous Crime Tips
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken a bold leap into the digital age by introducing a WhatsApp number—0709570000—to enable Kenyans to report crime anonymously.
This game-changing move was officially announced on Tuesday, July 22, by DCI Director Mohamed Amin, during a press briefing that sparked renewed hope for safer streets and stronger citizen-police collaboration.
“The Fichua Kwa DCI centre has provided an anonymous and secure channel through which the public, both locally and internationally, can share intelligence on crime via our toll number 0800722203,”
said Amin.
He went on to highlight the importance of embracing modern communication tools:

“With our upgraded system, we are proud to announce that the public can now share confidential information through WhatsApp 0709570000.”
This platform is an addition to the already existing toll-free hotline 0800722203, which has been operational under the “Fichua Kwa DCI” campaign.
“This enhancement not only improves accessibility but also aligns with a goal of adopting rapid technological advancement in our crime-fighting methods and strategies,”
he added.
The Fichua Kwa DCI initiative, aimed at encouraging Kenyans to speak up against crime without fear of exposure, has already helped crack major criminal cases. Through anonymous tips, DCI units have responded swiftly, tracked culprits, and even thwarted planned crimes.
At the heart of this program is the Fichua Call Centre, a high-security operation hub staffed with specially trained, multilingual officers. These officers handle sensitive calls, analyze data, and coordinate with the relevant DCI units to take action

By opening the WhatsApp platform, the DCI acknowledges the evolving nature of communication. Many Kenyans, especially the youth, rely on WhatsApp more than traditional phone calls. This makes it faster and more convenient for the public to relay time-sensitive tips—anytime, anywhere.
This latest development is a loud and clear message to criminals: citizens are watching, and reporting has never been easier or safer.

In a time when crime continues to evolve, DCI’s embrace of digital tools proves its commitment to staying ahead.
