CS Mbadi Holds Key Talks with IMF and World Bank Officials in the US
These talks, held at a time of growing global economic uncertainty, focused on improving Kenya’s governance structures and tightening its anti-corruption measures.
Talks Centered on Transparency and Reforms
Mbadi’s meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) involved top-ranking officials from various departments. The central theme? Rebuilding trust in public institutions and ensuring better oversight of public finances.
“We must strengthen institutional capacity, legal frameworks, and accountability mechanisms,” Mbadi emphasized. “This will rebuild public trust and boost economic resilience.”
He praised the IMF for standing with Kenya. According to Mbadi, President William Ruto remains focused on achieving a bold economic transformation agenda.
IMF Governance Assessment: A Turning Point
Interestingly, these talks came six months after Kenya requested an IMF governance diagnostic review. This was part of the government’s plan to detect and fix governance loopholes that drain public resources.

“We have received a governance diagnostics request from the Kenyan authorities,” confirmed an IMF official. “The government aims to strengthen anti-corruption policies.”
He further explained that the review would help enhance spending efficiency, promote competitiveness, and support inclusive poverty reduction.
Mbadi’s Meeting with the World Bank
Following his IMF discussions, Mbadi also engaged with World Bank officials. This second high-level dialogue focused on Kenya’s positive economic trajectory and future development projects.
“We discussed upcoming pipeline projects that will drive sustainable development,” Mbadi stated. These projects promise to create jobs, boost infrastructure, and uplift communities.
The World Bank praised Kenya’s fiscal discipline and commended the reforms already underway.
A Pivotal Moment for Kenya’s Future
These talks mark a major step forward in Kenya’s journey toward economic integrity and international credibility. With the IMF and World Bank by its side, Kenya is set to accelerate reforms, fight corruption harder, and unlock sustainable growth.
The message is clear—Kenya is serious about change. And CS Mbadi is at the front line of that transformation.
