The fire reportedly broke out around 8pm, moments after a group of students began protesting. Although the exact cause remains unclear, many believe the blaze was intentional.
“We saw flames everywhere. Students were shouting. It was chaos,” said a local resident. “We rushed in and helped stop the fire before it spread,” he added.
“They were angry. They wanted to watch the game. Things escalated fast,” said a teacher from Litein.
The school was closed indefinitely after students allegedly refused to sit the Apex exams—a joint test administered across several schools in the region.
