CCTV Captures Shocking Moment Two Masked Men Catch Fire While Torching Car in Night Attack
A disturbing CCTV clip dated May 11, 2025, has left Kenyans in shock after going viral online.
The footage, captured in the dead of night, shows two masked men breaking into a compound from the rear. Their intentions seemed clear—set fire to a car parked in front of the house.
One man carried a red jerrycan, which appeared to contain petrol. Without hesitation, he poured the liquid all over a white car.
Suddenly, a huge flame erupted as the second man tried to ignite the fire. In an unexpected twist, both men caught fire in the explosion. The scene quickly turned chaotic as the fire spread to their clothing.
Dogs Bark, No One Responds
During the incident, dogs barked furiously, but shockingly, no one came out from the house. This eerie silence raised more questions than answers.
Onlookers online have not held back.
“My dog would never bark like that without waking me up. Ignoring your dogs like that isn’t good,” wrote Anne Mairwöger.
“Whoever did this—God is watching them.“
Inside Job? Netizens Suspect Foul Play
Many Kenyans are calling this more than just an arson attempt. They suspect something deeper.

“This appears to be an inside job,” wrote Nimwasu Power KE Ebs.
“It’s highly unlikely outsiders could act so freely without raising alarm.”
Moses Geoffrey Michoma added, “Didn’t the owner hear the dogs? Why didn’t they check the CCTV? Looks like a planned insurance claim.”
Several viewers believe the car could have been torched for insurance or out of pure jealousy.
Dr. Eunice Wamuyu Menja recalled, “As a child, someone dropped a burning paper in our fuel tank out of jealousy. Luckily, no air stopped the fire.”
Legal Angle: Arson in Kenya Is No Joke
According to Kenyan law, arson is a serious criminal offence. It is punishable by life imprisonment.
If a life is lost during the act, the offender can face murder charges.
Even an attempt at arson attracts up to 14 years in prison. Additionally, civil lawsuits can be filed for damages.
A Warning to All
“Knowledge is important in every part of life—even in doing others wrong,” Phidel Domnic noted.
“If only they knew how flammable liquids behave.”
This shocking incident serves as a powerful reminder—crime doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes, it backfires literally.
