Caleb Amisi Defends Raila, Calls for Youth to Take Charge: “Let Baba Rest”

Nairobi – Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has strongly defended opposition leader Raila Odinga, urging critics to stop blaming him for Kenya’s political and economic struggles. In a bold statement on X on Friday, March 7, Amisi shut down those questioning Raila’s political decisions, including talks of an imminent deal with President William Ruto.

The youthful lawmaker insisted that Raila had done his part and deserved to step back. He urged Kenyans, especially the youth, to take charge of their future instead of depending on the veteran politician.

“I don’t blame Raila Odinga at all. I blame those who have consistently refused to vote for him five times he has presented himself on the ballot. He is a human being, not an angel. Let’s leave Baba to rest and let youths go to the street and continue the fight for a better Kenya,” Amisi stated.

“Stop Over-Relying on Raila”

Amisi dismissed Raila’s critics, calling them overly dependent on him. He described the constant attacks on the opposition chief as “obnoxious,” arguing that leaders should step up instead of expecting one man to keep fighting.

“It is obnoxious to continue blaming him. It only shows how weak you are and how dependent you are on him. Leave his name out and go out there and fight for the Kenya you want,” Amisi declared.

The Struggle Must Continue—Without Raila

The Saboti MP compared Kenya’s past political battles to today’s economic challenges, urging young leaders to rise. He slammed disengaged youth who complain but fail to take action.

“There were young leaders who fought for independence and won. Others fought for multi-partyism, and we achieved it. More fought for a new constitution, and we have it. Do not expect the same people to fight for 21st-century economic emancipation. They are not eternal. Nobody was born to fight for all generations while you flatten around in nightclubs,” he remarked.

“Wake Up and Fight for Kenya!”

Amisi insisted that those unhappy with Raila’s political decisions should either forgive him or focus on addressing governance failures instead of blaming one leader.

“Wake up and fight for your country and leave Raila to rest. He did his part. If you think he did not do enough, forgiveness is an option, but a bad government is not an option. Kenya needs a Renaissance,” he concluded.
