Gloria Orwoba Kicked Out of UDA, Set to Lose Parliament Seat
The move, announced on Monday, May 19, effectively strips her of her Senate seat and party rights.
According to UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) supported the Disciplinary Committee’s recommendation to expel her.
“Sen. Gloria Orwoba is no longer a member of the UDA Party,” Omar declared.
“She cannot represent or act on our behalf in any capacity.”
Why She Was Expelled
Initially, many believed this was just about party discipline. But it’s more than that.
Orwoba’s presence at former CS Fred Matiang’i’s homecoming party raised eyebrows within UDA.
Notably, some top officials questioned her loyalty. The visit, they say, symbolised political betrayal.
But that wasn’t all.

“She welcomed Matiang’i back into the country and later criticised government programmes on live TV,” said Charles Njenga, Chair of the Disciplinary Committee.
These actions, Njenga said, directly violated the party’s rules.
UDA Doesn’t Want Divided Loyalty
While defending the move, Omar explained that loyalty isn’t optional in UDA.
“Fidelity and loyalty to party ideals are fundamental,” he said.
“You cannot play for two political teams.”
Although the party values free expression, it draws the line when actions clash with core principles.
Who’s Taking Her Place?
Meanwhile, UDA has already picked a replacement for the ousted senator.
Consolata Wabwire Wakwabubi, from Kimilili Constituency, Bungoma County, is set to step in.
“We have submitted a letter to the Senate to initiate Orwoba’s removal,” said Omar.
If approved, this would finalise Orwoba’s exit from Parliament — just months before a possible Cabinet reshuffle.
What’s Next for Orwoba?
As it stands, the vocal senator’s political future is uncertain.

Once a rising star, Orwoba is now facing the consequences of going against the grain.
Her expulsion serves as a stern warning to others within UDA.
The Political Message Is Clear
With internal rifts growing, the party seems determined to reinforce unity at all costs.
UDA’s message? You’re either with us or against us.
And Gloria Orwoba? She just learned that the hard way.
