Kenya to Hand Over JKIA? Whistleblower Nelson Amenya Sounds Alarm Over Secret Dubai Deal
New Airport Scandal Brews
Nelson Amenya, the bold whistleblower who rocked the country with revelations on the JKIA-Adani scandal, is back. This time, he claims that the Kenyan government is quietly planning to hand over the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to a firm from Dubai.
In a new twist that could ignite public outrage, Amenya alleged that Kenya may even use taxpayers’ money as a guarantee for the deal.
“The Kenyan government is planning to give the airport to some company in Dubai,” said Amenya.
“Being a tax haven, it could be Adani behind it.”
Taxpayers on the Hook?
The 30-year-old whistleblower raised fresh concerns about transparency and national interest. According to him, the planned deal could put Kenyans at serious financial risk.
“They will use the country’s balance sheet as a sovereign guarantee,” he claimed.
“If a company has the money and they believe the airport is a worthy investment, why would they need taxpayers to underwrite the deal?” he posed.
Amenya’s remarks come amid growing anxiety over Kenya’s recent loan agreement with the United Arab Emirates. The Ksh193 billion loan, which carries an 8.2% interest rate, is expected to be disbursed in February 2025.
Adani Shadows Loom Again
Though Amenya didn’t mention the company by name, he hinted that the Adani Group might be involved again. Notably, this is the same Indian conglomerate that was previously linked to a JKIA and power infrastructure deal—later cancelled due to public uproar and transparency breaches.
President William Ruto pulled out of the earlier Adani deal after the company’s directors were indicted in a U.S. court over a Ksh32 billion corruption scandal.
Kenyans Urged to Stay Vigilant
Amenya urged citizens to remain alert and demand clarity.

“We can’t allow such a key national asset to be traded behind closed doors,” he warned.
Despite going silent for months, Amenya says he’s still committed to exposing what he calls “secretive sell-offs of national assets.”
