Farouk Is a Co-President – Gachagua Blows Whistle on Ruto’s Powerful PA
Gachagua Lifts the Lid on Farouk Kibet’s Power
Nairobi — In a stunning revelation, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that President William Ruto’s personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, is effectively a co-president.
Speaking to KTN on Monday, April 7, Gachagua painted a shocking picture of power dynamics within Ruto’s administration.
“He says I was fighting Farouk Kibet. Farouk Kibet is not a small man. He is a co-president in this country, and he runs the government,” Gachagua declared.
Ministers Tremble Before Farouk
Gachagua did not hold back.
“Everybody reports to him – the IG of Police, Head of Public Service, and Cabinet Ministers,” he said.
Even more shocking, he alleged that Ruto uses Farouk to issue instructions to ministers.
“William Ruto gives orders through Farouk. Ministers tremble at his very sight,” he added.
A Power Struggle in Harambee Annex
Gachagua explained that the fallout with Farouk began when the latter tried to control the deputy president’s office.
“Farouk wanted to arrange my meetings. I allowed it until I noticed corruption creeping in,” he revealed.
That’s when he took a stand.
“There’s no way I would have allowed Farouk Kibet to give instructions to me,” Gachagua asserted.
Ruto’s Alleged Dismissal of the Complaints
Gachagua said he raised these concerns with Ruto directly.
“I told the President, I am elected. I am not going to take instructions from your PA. And I am not going to push corruption in my office,” he stated.
However, he claimed Ruto brushed off his concerns. Farouk reportedly dismissed Gachagua’s pushback with contempt.
Meanwhile, President Ruto publicly accused Gachagua of constantly picking fights with junior staff.
“He became a perennial complainant, accusing everyone of undermining him — even junior people like blogger Itumbi, Farouk, and MP Ndindi Nyoro,” Ruto said.
But Gachagua insists this narrative is misleading.
Ruto and Farouk: A Long History
Farouk Kibet has been Ruto’s close ally since 1997, during Ruto’s campaign for the Eldoret North seat.
Despite his unofficial position, Farouk’s influence has remained undeniable for decades. Neither Ruto nor Farouk has responded to the latest allegations.
Kenya Reacts: Shock, Anger, and Questions
The bombshell interview has sparked heated debate nationwide. Kenyans now question the real chain of command inside State House.
As 2027 nears, this fresh political storm is likely to shake the Ruto administration further.
